  • Brian Wilson has over 45 years’ experience in the construction industry principally in contracting but also with local authority experience.
  • For the past 18 years he has provided contractual advice and support to main and sub-contractors, local authorities and housing associations.
  • Under a wide range of forms of construction contract, both standard and bespoke, he has conducted arbitrations on behalf of claimants and respondents, acted as dispute manager and advised on the resolution of disputes, analysed tender documents and advised tenderers, lectured both in-house and publicly and since the enactment of the Housing Grants and Reconstruction Act 1996 he has prepared cases on behalf of referring and responding parties. He has acted as an expert witness on matters of quantum in litigation and arbitration.

Specialist Skills

  • Ability to analyse complex situations that arise out of construction contracts and advise clients, by reports if appropriate, of the implications in regard to liability and quantum.
  • Advising on the implications of onerous terms in bespoke contracts or amendments to terms in standard contracts.
  • Conducting arbitrations and adjudications on behalf of clients whether they are claiming or defending including, where appropriate, managing the team and cost budgets.
  • Managing disputes for clients having regard to the engagement and guidance of in-house personnel and negotiating settlements without reference to arbitration or litigation.
  • Providing litigation support to legal teams either directly or where the client appoints the legal team.
